There were restaurants that served human flesh. They referred to the meat as "two legged mutton." Cannibalism. They did not eat beef, because ox was the farmers faithful companion. They did not have dairy farms.

People sold their children into slavery to save their homes. High class prostitutes known as "singing girls," we're owned by the taverns which were controlled by the state.
